This is a very low end spec PC you're trying to play on I'm afraid. This game is made in Unreal Engine 5 which pushes the best and latest software for lighting and performance. I'm also rather new to game development so optimization is something that needs improvement! :)
you've encouraged me to start game dev and I would like to create a game just like Apex Rush, I haven't tried the game yet bcz I have a really low end PC buh I have subscribed to your YouTube channel and I would like to add some ideas can you like try to create a separate map called like"free roam" without the borders along the road maybe like an open map or something leave alone the other ones and one may drift freely
This ran on my laptop, but I recently got a slightly older desktop, and on that I'm getting a "GPU Crashed or D3D Device Removed." error. I wondered if it might just be too old hardware to manage, but I thought I'd get suggestions.
Along with that error, it also says "Fatal error: [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 868] CurrentQueue.Device->GetDevice()->GetDeviceRemovedReason() failed at D:\build\++UE5\Synce\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12 Submission.cpp:910 with error 887A0006"
It's Windows 10 v.21H2 build 19044.2846 running on Intel i5-4590 (3.30GHz) processor, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 that came with it, and 32GB RAM. I tried looking online about the error, but it seemed hard to find information that looked useful.
in the file Apex Rush v1.2 Day\Windows\IslandStuntMap\Saved\Config\Windows, there are a few aditional settings you can change like shading quality and foliage which i couldn't see it the game menu, be careful when changing though
Hello, ive got an amazing game idea for you. i say you add a speedometer to your game.i can help you with this, here is my discord. https://discord.gg/YXVzawGEzv.
I’ve released updates trying to optimize the game and it’s helped a lot of people :) It won’t run on lower end pc’s for now like integrated gpu’s etc. I’m new to game dev, started learning in February. Optimizing games is hard, but doing my best.
in the file Apex Rush v1.2 Day\Windows\IslandStuntMap\Saved\Config\Windows, there are a few aditional settings you can change like shading quality and foliage which i couldn't see it the game menu set them to 0 for best performance, resolution scale also gives better performance but can make it look worse, I reccomend 60 or higher if possible
I was wondering if it was just for me but I can barley pick up enough speed to make the first jump and don't even get close to making the second. Even without me hitting the walls I still had the same problems and I tried for about a hour. Is the game just really hard?
this is incorrect. You can get as much speed with 30fps as 200+.I’d recommend maybe watching a speed run or my tutorial if you’re struggling! V1.2 should allow you to make the first jumps easily if you understand how basic car mechanics work.
I played ver 1.1. I had a GTX 1660 PC and with all graphics settings set to middle I was able to get 60 FPS. At first I played with a keyboard, but after playing with a gamepad, I found it very easy to control the steering wheel.
The game was difficult but very challenging and a lot of fun. The course is in the air, and the sky and the ocean are drawn very far away, giving the game a very open feeling, which I personally really enjoyed. I could see the course ahead, so I was motivated even when I got stuck.
I didn't realize that I accidentally pressed the C key after returning to the rotating looping scene, and the car body slowed down and I thought it was broken.
The game is fun. Is it intentional that all the surfaces feel very slippery
The music is way too loud compared to the engine sound (sometimes it gets suddenly louder) so I had to toggle the music off which is sad because it adds a cool atmosphere.
Biggest problem I had with the game where wierd bounces mosttly on landing.
i love the game alot, been fun watching you slowly create this masterpiece. i have been play testing for a while and it might just be me, but the red loop always forces me to left no matter how hard i steer, eventually i made it even though it felt like luck. the long white tunnel is very precise to if you dont have like 270kph you arent making it. ik its supposed to be hard, but car is not responsive enough for precise jumps like that in my opinion, I do look forward to any updates you may do! amazing game and runs great on my pc though
It took me some time to get used to the high difficulty but I'm really enjoying the game. I've just found a shortcut that works and another potential one.
Sounds good! The difficulty of the game is perfect in my opinion. Doesn't take too long to get used to it but there is not much room for mistakes. Really appreciate this game and your continued effort!
Edit: If I go too fast (absolute optimal line) I land weirdly and bounce on the ramp prior to the replacement of the leap of faith. Only issue so far
The game is fine, there could be more music and after a few mins i find myself turning it off. The car doesn't feel much responsive. The track is VERY difficult and i see you keep saying thats the point but there still are more and more people starting to say it. Some of the jumps require you get the PERFECT slight movements to preform some jumps.
Alright! Keep up the awesome work tho :) i know what it feels like being a developer and this has got some potential. Can't wait for them youtube shorts using this game in the background lmao :D
It would be great to have keybinds, but until then you can fix this really easily using AutoHotKey. In fact it's so easy I just went ahead and wrote the script in a couple of seconds.
To do it, just install AutoHotKey - it's easy to find by googling - then open a file in notepad and paste in these four lines:
Up::W
Down::S
Left::A
Right::D
This code tells AHK to replace the key on the left with the key on the right when it's typed.
Save that file as something like wasdarrows.ahk, then double click it to run it. You can test if it's working in notepad. I just tried it and it works in this game.
Then when you're done there should be a green icon with an H in it in the tray on the taskbar. Just right click that and exit and you've got your arrow keys back!
Congrats on your first project, really good in that context.
As for critique, honestly gotta join the other peeps in the comments, the game is too hard. I know that's the point but it just starts out impossible for 99% of the traffic you'll get here. Which leads to most players giving you feedback from tryin to get the first jump done for 5 minutes before deciding to drive all over the ocean floor. Which is what I did before finding out about the slowdown... Which made me clear the first jump but then was so slow I didn't wanna continue like that.
There's nobody who'll judge you for releasing a short easy game, especially on itch.io where people wanna get tastes of hundred kinds of games. But I totally get wanting to cater to a niche (especially as I see you've already got a good following on youtube), my first project also ended up with sections far too hard for average traffic.
I'd advice to give the games intro something easier to let people who are unfamiliar tip into what you are doing, doesn't even have to be much, just something short that beginners can get through.
Other than that I also gotta mention the graphics feel bloated. Of course not to downplay the experience you gained from going for this style and the work you put into it, but the final product just looks generic to me and eats resources for no good reason.
I can't give you any specific advice because I use Godot and don't know how things are dealt with in Unreal Engine. But generally speaking I would reccommend to try tone effects down, there's no real need for those reflections and lighting effects. It might feel like an insane difference when comparing it side to side in the engine, but if you have a passable color balance barely anyone will actually take not of the fact that the orange of some block isn't realistically reflected onto another surface.
But then again, knowing which parts of the graphics to turn down while staying within certain style is a hard thing to do. So don't get too worked up about it, it ran for me after turning everything to the lowest setting so you didn't make any catastrophical mistake where the base is only playable with a great graphics card and the lowest setting changes absolutely nothing.
I've played for 19 min and cant get passt the thing after the tunnel. This game has potential but is way to hard You have to do everything to perfection too complete a single obstacle i don't know if this was intended but still a 5/10, needs work
it is intended to be challenging :) There’s lots of ways to gain speed with steering inputs and paths to take. I’d recommend looking at some speedruns that can be found in the Discord server!
While that may be true i would advise against making your game overchallenging as current set up is straight up frustrating. You have to learn how to play this game as the steering is very unresponsive with keyboard, the first smooth portion followed by sharp turn shortly after makes it impossible to follow racing lines properly without learning how to play the game instead of knowing how the car works.
I've played a lot of simulators/simcades and arcade racing games and I'd strongly advise for you to either improve car's grip and decrease it's bouciness (make suspension a little stiffer) as current handling gives off very poor vibes and feels unpleasant to drive.
Edit: also the fact that you have to nail every corner perfectly in some weird manner in order to make the jumps and well, play the game basically makes it discouraging from the first few minutes of gameplay.
I personally even after playing for around 15 minutes have issues with car bouncing off weirdly from time to time when you try to steer it onto jumps and off the spinning cylinder in the first part.
Lol, I’m not making Trackmania. The difference is this is fully physics based, it’s still the first playtest so a lot can be improved, including handling.
I hear you, the steering inputs can be improved and I’m testing new settings daily, V1.1 fixed some delay in steering and allows for more steering capabilties. Try instead of holding down in every corner tap to steer more.
As noted the physics engine for the car is still in beta, and have small bugs like one’s you mentioned.
A lot of people have no issues learning the handling so it might just be some training needed, but I will work to improve steering & handling for the next update.
Thanks for the help bro. After watching a couple of speedruns i gpt the hang of it. Its actually really fun when you learn. Obviusly not a perfect game but one of the best 1st games ever!! I have watched ypur content for a while and really like the devlog series. Love what your doing bro keep it up. New rating: 8/10 :)
Took a while to get the handle of it, but finally made it under 3min
1. Music needs to be a little bit quieter, because most of the time I cant even hear the engine.
2. Handling/steering could be a tiny bit better. Just a little bit.
3. Landing can be sometimes be weird in some places.
4. 1st person camera will not return back to 3rd person when I mess up on the loop and have to restart at the checkpoint.
5. Would definitely love a leaderboard/ish window, where I could check all of my best times that I have finished in. (like top 3 best times or something like that)
6. Right before the jump to the loop the track goes downwards a little bit and the camera goes directly behind the car so I cant see where to turn.
Other than that the game is pretty solid and good. Really looking forward to improvements and possibly new maps and cars in the future. Maybe even more soundtrack. Who knows.

is it possible to download this on a chromebook?
Tried the game and its lagging so much even on the lowest settings possible tried changing resolution it didn't help much either.
the fps goes down when i look where the track is, but when i look elsewhere the fps goes back up.
specs: MSI GTX 750
AMD Ryzen 3 2200g
8GB RAM
Yikes, those specs are a little bit low for the game engine

add a nitro feature, easy way to do is physics thruster and niagara particles.

this error usually happens to me in unreal engine because i have an underpowered device, maybe Its an outdated driver? or an underpowered gpu
moderator tf is my comment
Sir i have a question
Will the game run on a 32bit CPU?
I cant pay but I will sub to your YouTube channel
love your game man if i would have some money i would surely give u some
is it possible to make the graphics lower?
there are graphic settings in the game that allows you lower a lot of things.
Thank you for letting me know!
in the file Apex Rush v1.2 Day\Windows\IslandStuntMap\Saved\Config\Windows, there are a few aditional settings you can change like shading quality and foliage which i couldn't see it the game menu, be careful when changing though
My laptop with a an 11th gen intel cpu and iris xe graphics just gives me a really bright world
Iris XE can't handle Directx12 and UE games very well, don't think there's a fix for it I'm afraid
Please Xbox version
that would be very hard as he would have to do lots of extra coding and becomes an xbox developer
every time i try to open it, it just downloads another version of itself
Try checking out the tutorial! -
Hello, ive got an amazing game idea for you. i say you add a speedometer to your game.i can help you with this, here is my discord. https://discord.gg/YXVzawGEzv.
Hazardous, I can (voluntarily) create a speedometer and you DO NOT have to pay or favour me. I am doing this to improve YOUR game.
pls reply im your biggest fan, and I wanted to say the game is incredible and I love it
I installed the game but its not letting me play it.
did you follow the tutorial? What's appearing when you press the .exe file?
what tutorial
Linked on the game page:
how do i install the game every time i try to install it it takes me to the browser how do i play it
can the car accelerate faster? i like it tho played for like 30 min, not as easy as i thought
i cant get it o run on steam for my controller it just says: error couldnt start
this game runs really horribly, its unplayable on my PC (Mid+ tier specs)
you have to consider other peoples hardware when optimizing your game.
I’ve released updates trying to optimize the game and it’s helped a lot of people :) It won’t run on lower end pc’s for now like integrated gpu’s etc. I’m new to game dev, started learning in February. Optimizing games is hard, but doing my best.
I got you.
Here's some beginner friendly videos that I think might help you.

he probably made the physics rely on how good your game runs and didn't realize it because his computer is too good.
So basically, the higher the frames, the faster the car goes
this is incorrect. You can get as much speed with 30fps as 200+.I’d recommend maybe watching a speed run or my tutorial if you’re struggling! V1.2 should allow you to make the first jumps easily if you understand how basic car mechanics work.
I've been using unreal for about 3 years, it isn't basic car mechanics that is the issue, it's a game physics thing. Look at this link it explains it https://medium.com/polars-development-blog/getting-physics-right-for-polars-in-u...
This is already implemented like I said, substepping is enabled and I’ve looked into this already before release.
such an achievement learn how to make games and release this, great job man! I am self-taught myself but making games in Unity, just stick with it!
Just a heads up, night version 1.2 is flagging as a virus in Windows Defender: Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml
I can assure you there’s nothing there aha, double check your virus software.

when I play it is really bright and yellow
That's what I'm getting to, and I'm not sure why. If anyone has a fix, I would love to play this game :)
Are you using Iris XE GPU?
Yes I am. How’d you know?
it’s an issue with that GPU, struggling to handle certain graphic components of Unreal Engine games. Not sure if there’s a fix for it yet!
quick question what is the min specs to run this game
make a gnu/linux port

Can you make a version for mac please
can you plz add keybind option so i can change w a s d to the arrows
HOW DARE YOU! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i use my mouse with my left hand
just press Fn + W on your keyboard and Windows will switch arrow keys with wasd
what if i don't have fn on my keyboard?
Maybe a software to rebind the keys or search On screen keyboard and bring that up
It would be great to have keybinds, but until then you can fix this really easily using AutoHotKey. In fact it's so easy I just went ahead and wrote the script in a couple of seconds.

love this game!
Nice game! Loved the part where my car went brrr!
